Mark Driscoll shares some numbers from Easter weekend at Mars Hill churches. I saw several similar postings following Easter Sunday from other churches.
God rejoices over every person who puts their faith in him, and we should, too.
I just think we’re praying too small.
400+ new believers is a great thing, but if that’s the number that we pray God will deliver, then we’re not taking God seriously when he says that he doesn’t want anyone to perish. If God can do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine, then we had better start imagining numbers that are in God’s ballpark. I’m talking orders of magnitude larger than 400.
If it’s conceivable that an individual human or an individual church can achieve it, then the goal is too small.
