Releasing Leaders or Keeping the Machine of the Church Running?

Mike Breen:

“To be sure, we should attend to the organization of the church, for it is a significant thing when the scattered church gathers. But as the Church stares precipitous decline in the face—as we look to re-embrace the missio Dei—we must learn again the art that Jesus exhibited: the task of multiplying missional leaders and releasing them into the cracks and crevices of society where there is little-to-no Gospel presence.”

Think of a church as a block of ice. That solid, rigid shape can only fit into certain places. Now imagine melting that block of ice. As the water transfers from solid and rigid to liquid and fluid, the matter is able to fill any given space, regardless of shape or size.

God is calling believers to embrace liquidity and take the gospel to places that institutions just can’t reach.
