Kurt Willems recounts a meeting from his days as a youth pastor at a mega-church:
During this meeting, I was lectured on principles of church growth that grew out of the Willow Creek movement in the 1980s and 90s. I saw a funnel with various levels of entry points and at the narrow end of such a funnel: “a fully devoted follower of Jesus” would be produced. Start with A, add B and C, and you’ll get D for disciple.
I’ve sat in similar meetings. Not exactly what you’d call “Spirit-filled” gatherings.
